Lee Trundle,I think Coutinho could do that to most players.

Re: Bilic confident on transfers
Kouyate ain't the answer in central midfield. Technically (passing and control) not good enough and he lacks the positioning and work rate.

Goes missing in so many games when in midfield.

Re: Bilic confident on transfers
Nordtveit improved? I remember his last game for us when Coutinho waltzed past him without even breaking sweat.

He was average at best during his time with us.

Re: Bilic confident on transfers
Alvin, I have to disagree with you in regards to Nordveit. He was not really given a decent chance, but the games in his correct position you could see him improving. Him & Obiang could've controlled midfield. Kouyate I like, but he can be Ill disciplined. Noble is a sub, at best.

"Players like Gokhan Tore, Zaza, Callieri and Nordveidt should never have made it past the first hurdle. They are nowhere near the level required. "

What utter rubbish. 3 of the 4 are all Internationals. Tore and Nordtveit had experience at youth level in England at top clubs in London and Tore had previously played under our manager.

They certainly didn't work out for us, but given better circumstances they could still have proved worthwhile, like Zaza who settled in at Valencia pretty quickly.

Re: Bilic confident on transfers
I have no doubt the club is working hard behind the scenes but recruitment has been so poor in the last year or so I wonder what controls they have put in to avoid the mistakes made last year.

Players like Gokhan Tore, Zaza, Callieri and Nordveidt should never have made it past the first hurdle. They are nowhere near the level required.

Feghouli is also not good enough in my opinion, although others may disagree after his improved performances in the last few games.

Zabaleta is a decent signing but we already have a promising young English right back who I thought had a decent season and deserves a longer run in the side.

Now he's effectively been told he's on the subs bench to make way for a 32 year old Argentine whose best years are behind him.

And anyway that isn't where we are in crisis right now.

We have a woeful lack of pace in midfield and we lack a 20-goal a season striker who can stay fit for more than 5 games at a time. These are problems that can't wait. We can't start next season without fixing them - unless we want a repeat of the dismal year we have just endured.

Of course Bilic knows this. But I hope he and the management have worked out what went wrong last year and fixed the structural / process issues that caused us to sign so many duds. If the problems haven't been fixed we will just repeat the same mistakes.

Utterly meaningless drivel. Could have been a 10 year old saying it.

Writing is on the wall for the bloke, doubt he'll be here much longer.

Re: Bilic confident on transfers
I'd rather he just shut the fuck up. This kind of utterly bland statement is meaningless. It doesn't tell us anything other than so far they've got nowhere - which we already knew.
From being a cheerleader for Slav before he joined us, I'm now becoming rapidly disillusioned with him.
I want him to succeed, but I suspect that he's lost whatever he had and I'd be surprised if he's still with us in 2018.

There's a little bald fella playing for Italy on 401 at the moment who looks useful.......

Re: Bilic confident on transfers
I think Bilic will like to play Arnoutavic and Antonio as attacking midfeilders on each flank and Ayew in the middle.

If necessary they are both big and strong and good in the air so we can have Cresswell and Zabaletta sending in crosses wide for them as well.

Personally I'd love Martinez to have a brilliant pre season and do enough to convince all of the idiots that he is worth a shot this season

Stranded

I believe the issue is that the signing on fee was to be paid out over each year of his contract as part of his wages, hence why he is on somewhere totalling about 90k it seems. He still wants the signing on fee paid up and Gala are unwilling to cover his full wage, so negotiations are ongoing.

Re: Bilic confident on transfers
Must be fun trying to convince players to join, whilst a player on his way out the door is having to 'negotiate' over money the club owes on his signing on fee.

deal

we have been trying to offload sakho for two seasons, nobody is going to take him. we have offered snodgrass as part ex for several players, and brighton amongst others are supposedly interested outright. feghouli looks to be off to galatasaray once we come to an agreement over his signing bonus.

I agree. I dont think we would need anymore. Could even try and find a home for Sakho, fegs or snodgrass.

Time to put our faith in Burke, Cullen and Fletcher at times this season.

Slav is hardly likely to come on the OS and say he's not confident and the board have fucked up is he, some of you guys will buy anything they tell us!

Re: Bilic confident on transfers
I think Hart, plus Arnoutavic plus a decent striker and we have the makings of a very good side

Hart
Zaba
Reid
Oggy
Cresswell
Obiang
Kouyate
Arnoutovic
Lanzini
Antonio
New Striker

Subs
Adrian/Randolph (depending who stays)
Fonte
Ayew
Byram
Masuaku
Carroll (when fit)
Noble

That's a decent first 11 with a bench full of players who could push for starting spots.

to be fair mate he says he expects a couple soon, he doesn't say that's all we're getting.
